Pavel Durov, the CEO of Telegram, and Elon Musk, associated with xAI, have been linked to a potential partnership involving the integration of xAI’s AI assistant, Grok, into Telegram. On May 28, 2025, Durov announced on X that he and Musk had agreed in principle to a one-year deal to bring Grok to Telegram’s billion-plus users, claiming Telegram would receive $300 million in cash and equity from xAI, plus 50% of revenue from xAI subscriptions sold via Telegram. However, Musk quickly clarified on X that “no deal has been signed,” indicating the agreement was not finalized. Durov responded by acknowledging that the deal was only “agreed in principle” with formalities pending.
